As part of our celebration of Black History Month, Angel City FC is hosting a series of 5 live virtual events, facilitating open and honest conversations about racial equity in sports & media, and featuring an intersectional group of prominent panelists and moderators from the ACFC family and community. The week culminates with the announcement of a globe-spanning initiative that will ensure these important conversations continue well past the month of February.

Monday, February 22 - Where Are We Now? The Sports & Media Landscape (ACFC Members-Only)

Personal stories of how race has shaped pro athletes’ and entertainers’ experiences, the changes they’ve seen, and what they hope the future holds.

Tuesday, February 23 - BWPC & The Call Up

Featuring: Jasmyne Spencer, Ifeoma Onumonu, Estelle Johnson, Tziarra “Zee” King, Nils Clauson, Curran Ferrey

A conversation with board members of the Black Women Players Collective and the filmmakers of “The Call Up,” a docuseries that shares an intimate look at the experiences of Black players in the NWSL.

Wednesday, February 24 - Beyond the Pitch: Careers in Sports & Media

Featuring: Keidane McAlpine, Lindsay Kagawa Colas, Karina LeBlanc, Renata Simril, Danielle Slaton

Beyond the pitch - spotlighting the opportunities and pathways for BIPOC to be involved in the sports and media industries. Hear from professionals about their career paths and experiences in their fields.

Thursday, February 25 - Youth Soccer in Their Words (ACFC Members-Only)

Featuring: Youth players from across California

Going back to the beginning of the pro-soccer player’s journey: A chance to hear about the role of race in youth soccer, directly from exceptional youth players within our community.
